We were unable to do the usual school projects for the second year in a row, so we pivoted once again, and chose to focus our budget on a single family. We were privileged to bless a single mom and her daughter.
Reach out and "touch" someone this season as we celerate the gift of Christmas!
Every kid deserves a chance!
We are grateful for 2021 and embrace the new year with a sense of great expectation. The needs we met in 2021 were different, though related to supporting education. We provided gifts to kids, and this time around, they were tied to academic excellence.
The apple scholarship committee reviewed students' essays from three high schools in the Colton Joint Unified School District and selected the top three Seniors from each school to receive a laptop each. Student #1 from Colton High School is seen with Assistant Vice Principal Jorge Alvarez in the picture below.
Many thanks to Dr. Patricia Horton (Principal, Lincoln Memorial High School) for connecting us with this effort, and for giving us the honor to provide the three laptops. I also appreciate those who continue to support our vision and mission in various ways and to different degrees.
God is good, God is love, and every kid deserves a chance!
2020 was an interesting year indeed, and its unique challenges required some adaptation from our end. Instead of focusing on gifts to kids, we chipped in to assist 10 families at Lincoln Memorial Elementary via gift cards due to the flexibility it affords each recipient. We remain grateful for the opportunity given to us by their wonderful principal (Dr. Patricia Horton) and staff, and we look forward to doing more as a new decade dawns in 2021.
I deeply appreciate my high-school peers, family members and friends who supported us via direct contributions or via their shopping on Amazon Smile. It helped move the needle. God is good, God is love, and every kid deserves a chance!!
2019 has come and gone, but the 2020th year or the 10th year of the current decade (yea I know many feel it is a new decade...all good!) was preceded by another event that put smiles on faces at Lincoln Memorial Elementary and Alice Birney on the 17th of December, 2019. We remain grateful for the opportunity afforded us by their wonderful principals and staff.
I want to also give special thanks to my high-school peers who rallied to make this event a success by contributing to the effort. God is love, God is good, and every kid deserves a chance!!
Looking forward to doing even more in 2019!!
Every child deserves a chance...
It was indeed a blessing to do yet another event at Lincoln Memorial Elementary school and Alice Birney, both in Colton, on 12/08/17. We were also able to add a second school this year and by God's grace, we will continue to work with these two schools and are looking forward to adding more going forward.
A humbling experience it was indeed, to share a small token of over 50 jackets and 32 school bags with these leaders of the future. The smiles and joy shown by these kids was just heart warming.
Look around you, open your eyes and your hearts and you'll see kids in need. The interesting thing we have found is that it doesn't take much to be a blessing to them, so find a need and meet that need....every child deserves a chance!
Have a happy and blessed 2018!
The Lincoln Memorial Elementary school event at Colton on 12/15/16 is one that we look forward to each year, and it was indeed a blessing.
The principal shared that students benefiting from events like this, sponsored by individuals and small/large organizations, are showing signs of academic improvement!
God is good and yes, every child deserves a chance!
